You have been granted and provisioned with access to Neighborhood Explorer Toolset (NETs) to better plan for and deliver public health programs and services. By accessing the NETs website and associated mapping tools, you hereby agree to be bound by these terms of use (“Terms of Use”).
The NETs website is for use strictly by WRHA employees only. It is forbidden to provide access to the website to any non-WRHA employee, or to supply a non-WRHA employee with any of the login passwords required to access NETs content.
The NETs website should be accessed primarily from WRHA computers. Do not access NETs from a publicly accessible computer. If using NETs on a home computer, do not enable the browser to remember the NETs logon password, and ensure that you log out of the web-based mapping application (Mango Maps) by clicking Sign Out when you are finished.
Personal health information is personal and sensitive and its confidentiality, collection, use and disclosure is protected under the Personal Health Information Act (Manitoba). Although none of the information on the NETS website is potentially identifiable personal or health information, some of the data may be considered potentially sensitive. When sharing any of these data with community partners in the form of presentations or reports, please check with colleagues or your Manager to confirm that sharing outside of the WRHA will not cause any potential misuse or issues. This especially important with data derived from WRHA databases (dot maps of post- partum referrals, screen positive families, immunization counts etc.)
Much of the data in NETs is based upon information supplied to the WRHA by other reporting parties and may not have been verified. If you see data that is in error, please report this through the Snitch Line.
To protect privacy, dot-mapped cases in the web-based mapping tools do not represent the true count or location of individuals. Therefore all dot maps should be considered approximate. See caveats below:
Zooming into a dot will not reveal the true location of a case.
At the neighborhood level, the number of dots do not represent the exact number of cases, but rather a randomized count.
Dot mapped cases are randomized as follows: a.) Dot mapped cases from the 2011 census are randomized within dissemination areas; b.) dot mapped data from WRHA health databases are double randomized (the number of cases within a neighborhood are wobbled randomly up or down to create a “synthetic” case count; “synthetic” cases are then allocated to a random location within the neighborhood).
For clarification on the Terms of Use, contact us via the Snitch Line on the NETs web-site.
